Mail-Order Mysteries Real Stuff from Old Comic Book Ads by Kirk Demarais

Old Comic Book

This book is so funny. Mail-Order Mysteries – Real Stuff from Old Comic Book Ads. Although, what was not funny is that my teen asked me: “So this is like stuff from the 80s?” Right. Apparently everything old is from the 80s to him. (The year I was born.)

Mail Order Mysteries

The book is filled with all the funny Advertisements from the 60s and 70s (not the 80s!), when people could get away with false advertising I suppose. My personal favorite is the Hypno-Coin, what turned out to be a plastic disc with a pamphlet that showed a man hypnotizing a woman (of course). Just as those X-ray glasses were marketed to show through clothes (women’s). Here’s the promo video I found on Youtube!

Hey! Watch out where you are pointing those glasses!

This is a great, very funny book. My husband found it at the Library and I love it. You can also find it on Amazon

I thought I would share in case you want to go see what sorts of amusing things you could have purchased once upon a time for a buck; especially since nothing is $1 anymore.
