~I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for State Farm. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.~
Supporting our community is extremely important to my husband and I. Even though we don’t have a whole lot, we are able to give where it counts for some. Over the last year we’ve donated crafts, products and early educational games/tools for the Early Education Special Needs building; a bed to a little girl who we’d never met that was undergoing radiation for multiple forms of cancer (she’s doing great now!) and many other little things. As I was raised to give from what I had an abundance of, through this blog I’ve been able to donate many things over the years to homeschooling parents and special needs families.
And these are just the small things we can do here.
All across the United States and Canada there are programs that work towards having a positive and lasting impact in the lives of the people around them. This year those communities have submitted 4000 causes as part of the State Farm Neighborhood Assist. This is where State Farm will choose 40 causes to receive $25,000 grants towards their programs. That can undoubtedly have a huge impact in many people’s lives.
Here is where I ask you to do your part!
Through May 16 you can do your part by going to State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook and voting daily for your favorite cause, or causes, and help bring $25,000 to the top 40. You can also put a face to the causes by visiting the Flickr page and seeing a bit about the communities, the people helping others and what they hope to gain by your vote.
You can break down your choices by US (States), Canada (Provinces), Alphabetical, by Education, Safety or Community Development. There is also the opportunity to simply see those in the lead by visiting the Leaderboard and pushing those votes. The important thing is that you DO vote because your votes mean the world to those who need it most.

You can learn more about State Farm Neighborhood Assist by visiting the webpage and reading (or watching) the stories of past winners and how it has impacted the lives of those in their communities. I do hope in these next few days that you do your part in helping to vote for those who will receive the 2014 grants. It’s a small thing to give for those that are doing so much, but sometimes the small things are what matter the most in this world.
