Some time ago I had written a promotion for Future Fortified and for that promotion I was given a $50 GC to use at Global Giving a place that you can donate to causes all around the world. It took me an awfully long time to figure out where to give the gift card to and eventually I saw a small place that hadn’t gotten much attention, but I’d felt it fit nicely with the idea of family: Support the Grandmothers.
$50 goes a long way in some places, not here in America where you can buy a single t-shirt for $50. In Uganda where these Grandmother’s are raising AIDS Orphans, $50 bought a grandmother a goat that provides fresh milk for their whole family. Families there are also not like here, they consist of many dozens of children and often times, like these, they are many children that have lost their own that have banded together.
It reminded me of my Gramma who always took care of everyone.
But I am telling you this because something miraculous happened! Some weeks ago the founder and director of the Nyaka Project, Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, had been selected as a CNN Hero!
Help: You can help for as little as $25, which provides the opportunity, skills and materials for a Grandmother to start a Basket Weaving, Necklace or Ceramics business. Those businesses help provide for the children that these beautiful woman have taken in.
This is not a paid promotion. This is a cause we chose to give our help to inspired by @FutureForfied
