~I received Kohl’s Cares items to feature for this review. Opinions are my own.~
A few weeks ago I received a box of Kohl’s Cares items from their newest collection featuring the beloved classic Clifford The Big Red Dog™. Tucked away beside Clifford and his friend Cleo was a book titled “The Scrambled States of America” by Lauri Keller. From the moment my son laid hands on this book our days have changed dramatically. Playtime has exploded into a geographical anomaly surrounding our town.
For example, the playground is in Sacramento, CA and we currently live in Austin, TX (today). Some of his pretend friends live in Augusta, MA and Springfield, IL. After almost 2 weeks he has memorized the geography of the states and their capitals and has created his own map on top of our town of where everything happens to be. We get from place to place via imaginary buses, just in case you were wondering.
The point is that I was going to write about our favorite big red dog Clifford and how much Judah loves reading his stories, but he is in Honolulu, HI vacationing with Cleo right now.
What I can tell you is that my son absolutely loves the stories in the new collection and the character plushes. He’s been asking about a puppy for his birthday for a long time now and wanted to know what type of dog each of his favorite characters were. They stay in his room just as his real puppy would and since Clifford is a Big Red dog, he sleeps on Big Blue the cushy chair; sometimes he guards his special book.
Right now Kohl’s Cares has partnered with Adopt a Classroom and hopes to raise $1 million dollars to help ensure kids and teachers have the basic essentials this year. It’s really easy to help out too! All they’re asking of you is to snap a First-Day pic of your child using #KohlsClassroomDonation and share it on social media. This particular project is going on until August 28th. If you cannot take a First-Day picture before then OR you don’t have any children, you can still be a great help to others by purchasing Kohl’s Cares products.
You see, the beautiful thing about purchasing these items through Kohl’s Cares program is that 100% of the net profit from the sale of these items will go to support kids’ health and education initiatives in communities nationwide. Each is only $5 and that can mean a lot in the long run for communities. To date they have reached nearly $300 Million Dollars through the program and with their donations have helped provide financial support to hospitals across the country. You can Clifford can do some BIG things for kids out there!
You can find Clifford and all his friends in store or online. So while you are out shopping for back-to-school attire, accessories, supplies or something for yourself – make sure to add a little Kohl’s Cares to your cart! I highly recommend “The Scrambled States of America” it can take you to places you never dreamed of.
I hope all your children have a great back-to-school year no matter where you live in the world.
