~I received Dr. Beaker for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
Weekly game night is a tradition our family still enjoys each and every week. It is the one time all week long where there are no electronic devices or television and we sit and play games as a family. There is sometimes bickering and certainly some serious competition but it is all in the name of family fun. Dr. Beaker from Blue Orange Games is their newest addition and much like their Dr. Eureka game this one features logic and scientific elements that we love.
For Dr. Beaker you must flip a challenge card and race your opponents to match the formula. Using logic and your stirring rod, you move the molecules into the right spots. All while trying to maneuver the special rotating platform at the bottom of your beaker which only allows the molecules to move one-by-one.
- 4 Beakers
- 4 Stirring Rods
- 24 Colored Balls (8 Orange, 8 Purple, 8 Green)
- 50 Challenge Cards
- Illustrated Rules
I love looking at their serious faces when they are concentrating on something. It always makes me smile!
- Visual Perception
- Focus & Attention
- Problem Solving
- Fine Motor
- Processing Speed
The game is not as easy as you think it would be! The bottom of the beaker rotates and you can only move one molecule at a time. No moving of molecules over other molecules. You have to maneuver them in and out of their little areas. You have to plan out in your head how you will make each move. It is listed for ages 8+ but my almost 6 year loves playing it too with just a little help from me.
Yet again Blue Orange Games produces a game my girls want to play over and over again. There is no time to sit back and relax with Dr. Beaker as we are all moving at a quick pace to get those molecules set first! Their unique games are fun for the whole family!
