~I received Lonely Planet Kids: First Words for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
I am a HUGE fan of Lonely Planet Kids, an imprint by the #1 travel guide- and phrasebook publisher, and they have recently recently a new language series for young readers for kindergarten through 3rd grade. Kids can learn to say “bonjour” and “hola” in First Words: French and First Words: Spanish. They introduce kids to 100 words, from airport to ice cream, and make learning a new language fun for the whole family with simple pronunciation guides and colorful illustrations.
These are beautifully illustrated introductions to the Spanish and French lanugages. Get the whole family prepared for and excited about an upcoming trip by learning 100 travel-relevant words – from food and transport, to animals and weather. Each double page features one word with a simple pronunciation guide paired with a bold, fun illustration to give the word context – and help make remembering the new vocabulary easy and fun!
Each book is accompanied with a free audio pronunciation guide. Either scan the QR code on the back cover or visit their First Words website online at www.lonelyplanet.com/kids/firs
