Time passes quickly and it seems like it moves even faster after you have children. I won’t even get into how quickly children themselves move. It is like life itself becomes a blur as we become so fixated on a point/goal that our surroundings stream past us. I think this is easy to do with not only life, but our children as well. Many times, we are so excited for the big events…birth, rolling over, sitting up, walking, etc. that we become consumed with the anticipation of those milestones and forget to capture those special moments that show their developing personality, humor, and sense of self. It is also easy to get in the habit of only having “formal” pictures professionally taken, but sometimes the best photo sessions are ones where the children can have a bit of fun and show their uniqueness. Of course, then you have the problem of finding an outfit that matches your child’s playfulness yet is still perfect for pictures. Luckily, I’m going to introduce you to Taylor Joelle Designs, which not only has fresh and fun clothing, but has gorgeous new items perfect for spring photos.
Taylor Joelle Designs is designed by Jenny and here’s a bit about the story behind the company…
I am a mother of 4 beautiful kids, and a wife to Jason (who is also part owner in Taylor Joelle). I love to read, run, and create beautiful things.
I use to be a teacher, but after having my first child, I wanted to stay home. I was anxious to do something from home, and a little obsessed with baby things, so I decided to start a brand named after my first daughter, Taylor Joelle. We started with 1 item (a crib bedding set) and steadily grew from there. I love everything about my job, it is so much for to create products that I am excited about. We strive to produce quality, boutique style, unique, items for babies and children.
I just love when a WAHM becomes successful! Even though I don’t know Jenny personally, it just makes my heart beam for this momma that built a company from scratch. Of course, my heart beamed more when I saw how adorable my little one looked in the Peachy Keen Lace Romper with Straps that we received in the newborn size. The Peachy Keen Romper is part of the new spring collection called “Peachy Keen” which is releasing this month! You can check out a sneak peak of the new collection below.
The sewing itself is well done with only one major seam (not too bulky) that is along the back of the romper. The base material is 97% cotton and 3% spandex, so it is nice and soft against your little one’s skin. The elastic along the top of the romper is tighter, but it didn’t leave any red marks on my daughter’s chest, so I don’t think it was uncomfortable. I did see a few loose threads inside along the top, but there wasn’t any unraveling or fraying that I could find. This was after we had an unpleasant ‘accident’ in the romper and I had to hand wash the garment a little more aggressively than I normally would have. I can attest that stains can come out of the fabric though and it still feels soft even after just laying it out to dry.
I also love the offset of the satin bow and I didn’t have any fraying on the ribbon even after washing it. The ribbon is only stitched in the center, so it can be untied…even by a 3 month old. It’s very simple to retie, but if you had a persistent toddler, I would probably go ahead it stitch the tied bow in place. This Peachy Keen Romper is meant for those special moments and not every day use, so you won’t find items that would detract from the pictures, like snaps.
And this Sock Monkey Hat is too cute!
