You can thank my husband for this recipe! One day he just came up with this off the top of his head and it was so, so good that I had to try and recreate what he did. Ever since I’ve had this pork steak recipe, I can never go back to just BBQing them! As Tot would say, they are awesome-ariffic!
These Awesome Pork Steaks do take 1 hour to cook. That just leaves you with a lot of time to prep side dishes! It is only a recipe for 2 steaks; so if you require more then you will have to a) use 2 covered skillets or b) have a giant covered skillet and double the recipe.
- 2 Pork Steaks
- 2 Cups Sliced Baby Portobello Mushrooms
- 1 1/4 Cup of Green Onion
- 1 Diced Clove of Garlic
- 1/2 Sliced Med. Red Onion
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Butter
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Season Salt
- Black Pepper
Season both sides of your Pork Steaks with the season salt and black pepper; then coat them in Worcestershire Sauce. It is up to you how salty and peppery you want your steaks. I typically just make sure they are decently coated without going overboard.
In your skillet, melt your butter over med-low heat, add your soy sauce and 1/4 Cup of Green Onion. Then place your steaks on top of the onions.
Once they are set in the pan, add all your toppings: the rest of the green onion, mushrooms, garlic and red onion. Make sure to spread them out over both of the steaks evenly.
Now place your lid on and let it cook on med-low for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, carefully take the toppings off and set them on a plate. Then, flip the steaks and put the toppings back on. Re-cover and cook for another 30 minutes.
Once the hour is up, you will have the most tender awesome pork steaks ever! Seriously, they are that good. Add your favorite side dishes and you have one amazing dinner.
Have fun cooking!
