~I’m a Fox Home Insider and received a copy of The Best of Me for review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
The gift of a romantic dinner followed by a heartfelt movie has always been the quintessential Valentine’s gift. It’s a gift that you can give no matter how young (or old) you are and one that can be given regardless of whether it is for a friend, family or your soul mate. Although I can’t provide the best place for you to take your Valentine to dinner, I can offer a great suggestion for a tear jerking film, The Best of Me.
This beautiful romantic drama is based on the #1 New York Times Best Seller of the same name written by Nicholas Sparks; who had brought us all The Notebook and Message in a Bottle. The Best of Me is a story about Dawson and Amanda who had been high-school sweethearts that were separated by tragedy. They reunite after 20 years at a loved one’s funeral and reignite the flame while coming to a deeper understanding of the choices they had made leading up to that moment.
Dawson is played by James Marsden (X-Men) and Amanda by Michelle Monaghan (True Detective); The Best of Me also stars Luke Bracey (The November Man) and Liana Liberato (If I Stay) and features an incredible Soundtrack with Lady Antebellum. The special “Tears of Joy” Edition Blu-ray/DVD also includes an all-new storyline and “Storybook” Alternate Ending! I loved this idea because the film is all about second chances, so if you don’t like the original you can give Amanda and Dawson another chance ending.
Special Features Include:
- “Tears of Joy” New Storyline and Alternate Ending
- Nicholas Sparks Interviews: Michelle and James
- Nicholas Sparks Interviews: Liana and Luke
- Commentary by Director Michael Hoffman
- Music Video: “I Did” – Lady Antebellum
- Deleted Scenes
- Along for the Ride
The Best of Me is classic Sparks; so if you are a big fan of his previous works then you’ll find yourself falling in love with this one. It’s definitely a movie for those that are into the genre, but if you want a lovely film that is sure to tip your Valentine’s heart, then I’d definitely give this a first chance.
You can grab a copy of The Best of Me “Tears of Joy” Edition at Fox Connect or at most movie retailers near you.
