A heartwarming story of the very first Christmas created by Rankin/Bass, the company that brought to life Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! The story is about Sister Theresa who rescues an orphan from a lightening storm. After nursing him back to health, the boy wakes up only to realize that the lightening storm damaged his eyes and he can no longer see. With the help of Sister Theresa, the boy Lucas, learns that seeing goes deeper than than what your eyes show you and together they find that love can overcome any obstacles.
In the story Sister Catherine describes snow to Lucas who had never seen it. The video above shows a beautiful clip of the Sisters discussing the Christmas Cards and how they all have snow in the images even though it had never snowed where the orphanage is. Later there is a special pageant that all the orphaned children perform each year and the blind Lucas is chosen to play the Angel. The harmonious elements of the story come together in a beautiful uplifting end and leave you remembering the true meaning of Christmas.
