When I was a little girl, just a few years older than my tot, I fell in love with space. While other children were playing dolls and writing little notes back and forth, I was staring at the stars and writing letters to NASA. I remember that it all began in 2nd grade when I created a map of the solar system for class and got an A+. I wanted to send it to NASA and my Mom helped me. After that NASA and I wrote back and forth to each other, I sent them my drawings and they sent me beautiful photographs from space. It was a relationship I cherished for years and went on until I moved onto Junior High. I know that we’ve grounded our space program, but the dream of exploring the universe still lives on in my son and I. Giving that gift of imagination through role-play with your children is essential to nurturing their dreams, whether it be an Astronaut, a Fireman, a Ballerina or a Princess.
My tot was given this extremely fun Jr. Space Explorer Inflatable Space Shuttle from AEROMAX. It’s actually very genuine looking and has the NASA tag with the American Flag on one side and USA on the other. The dials on the space shuttle are pretty much as they would be (just in a kids version) and it has a handle just in case you are going to place it in water. It can be used as a flotation device in the pool or just for play!
If you want to get really creative, AEROMAX actually has the entire Space Suit complete with Space Boots for both children AND Adults!!
Before my tot gets too big I really want to get him the entire ensemble. The only part I am really disappointed about is that I would have LOVED to have had this as a child. Where were you in 1986! At least I can still get the Adult Space Suit!
AEROMAX has Real Gear for Firemen, Police Officers, Princesses, Pilots, Doctors and Pirates and more! They even have an entire section called My 1st Career which gives little kids the ability to dress up for pretend jobs. It is so cute! And just in case your child can’t decide which career they want, you can get an ensemble!
The Real Gear is obviously more realistic and detailed whereas the Career Gear are t-shirts. They also have little outfits for kids under 2. You are never too young or too old to have fun and make believe.
I love this store. There are so many different ideas and creative ways to play, but also to teach children about the special jobs of our everyday heroes. I will never forget my Mom helping me to write my very first letter to NASA, for picking out books to help me learn about the constellations and never discouraging my dream no matter how unimaginable it was. I like to think that is what AEROMAX is doing for our children, helping to encourage the small steps of their dreams and create waves into the future of what they may one day become.
I may never have made it to becoming an Astronaut, but there isn’t a single day that I am not somewhere fantastical with my children. My son and I have visited Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, distant stars and galaxies in our Jr. Space Explorer Shuttle and what better gift could there be?
