~I received The Seashell Collector for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
Every summer we try and make a few trips to the beach just to enjoy the beauty of it all. We spend hours playing in the sand and surf and we always enjoy picking through the seashells on our many walks on the beach. I am trying to teach my oldest daughter to only select her favorite seashells to bring home instead of a pail full of broken ones. Together we have read over the The Seashell Collector gift set and in the process she has been learning about different shells as well as how beautiful different shells can be.
The Seashell Collector by Ilya Tëmkin with the American Museum of Natural History includes a beautiful keepsake box set that is the perfect gift for every beachcomber and shell lover. Inside, you’ll find adjustable/removable dividers to help store and display your treasures, 15 postcards showcasing different shells, 64-page journal and an accordion-style booklet with stunning illustrations from the American Museum of Natural History’s Rare Book Collection on one side and an expert overview of conchology and shell types on the other.
My daughter has already packed this set in her luggage for our trip to the beach this weekend. She plans to journal about the animals and shells she sees on the beach (score for me as it helps her with her writing skills) and she has decided to only select the very best shells to store in the keepsake box.
She is really into mail so she wants to write out a few postcards to friends and family while we are there and mail these to them. I love seeing how sweet she can be in wanting to spend some vacation time writing to others.
This really is a very nice set and I have shared it with my 6 year old only because she has a great fascination with the beach and shells. This would make a perfect gift for adults and even I learned some stuff about shells. This simple yet stylish set is the perfect addition to our bookshelf.
