After months of waiting to see if Judah would ever want to get out of his crib, we decided to just change him to the toddler bed ourselves. We had saved the Elmo bed-set especially for the big change and when he’d seen his big boy bed decorated with Elmo he was so excited. Yesterday afternoon we couldn’t even get him off the bed!
I figured we’d run into some problems, but outside of the first realization that he could get out himself (He ran clapping down the hallway!) he loved it so much he’d just stay in there and talk himself to sleep. It was adorable.
I figure we are pretty lucky. Cody’s first time in a toddler bed didn’t go over as smooth, although we shared a room and he wanted Mommy in there. Last night he slept just fine except once or twice, which is rather normal for him. I found myself half sitting, half sleeping with my head on his pillow this morning because he had sat up and was whining for us. So much for him ever wanting out! I woke up with a terrible headache and a beautiful sleeping boy tucked in with his blankie.
I was wondering if it’d been so easy with your children or if you had major difficulties getting your child to sleep in a toddler bed? Was the eventual change to a twin any easier?
