This is the first year Tot is away all day at school and for the first time my husband switched to working days. Needless to say, we don’t get to see each other much. By the time Tot gets home from school it’s almost 4pm, time for dinner, and leaves only a few hours before the bath/bed schedule. The days go by quickly and it’s nice to have dinner together, but we really miss hanging out. That’s why our Pizza Friday has become really special. We get to spend our time together knowing that no one is on the clock, no one has to wake up early and we can snuggle up and watch movies.
I’m sure most of you are in the same boat; so to give you a head start on your Back-to-School Family Movie Night I’ve put together my Top 5 Classic Family Movies to watch! Who doesn’t love the classics?
Since everything revolves around pizza on our family movie night, it makes sense to start off this list with some huge pizza fans!
#1 The (Original) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
It’s hard to find a better movie to couple with some great pizza. We had stopped over at Walmart before our movie night and picked up our favorite 5 Cheese TOMBSTONE® Pizza! There’s always great deals on pizza and I love how super cheesy their pizza is!
My second pick is a film that your children should never grow up without watching! I know that they’re remaking it, but the classic must live on.
#2 The Goonies
What kid doesn’t want to believe that one day they might find buried treasure? What would you do if you found piles and piles of glistening gold?
We paired up our pizza with these delicious EDY’S OUTSHINE, so I thought I should put in the most sugary sweet classic I could think of. That’s Willy Wonka of course!
#3 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
It has a lot of sweets in there! At least the Outshine bars won’t get you dropped down a chute or blow you up into a giant blueberry. They’re even made with real fruit and honest ingredients! Unlike anything in the film.
These are in the Novelties section of the freezer aisle at Walmart, just in case you were wanting to rush out and grab some. They do look really good huh? My favorite is the coconut!
It’s hard to believe this next one is a classic. Sometimes they make me feel really old by putting up my favorite animations as classics! So don’t be shocked when I add…
#4 Finding Nemo
I know, right? Took me by surprise too, but nothing shows what a parent would go through for their child like this special film.
I’d do anything for my boys. They’re what gives me #mygoodlife every single day.
For my last pick I had to think really, really hard. Something so clearly out of this world! I was thinking that sometimes I feel a little lost and homesick when my boys are gone and that’s exactly how E.T. felt.
#5 E.T. the Extra Terrestrial
Also, I can sometimes imagine Tot riding on a little bike with E.T. in the basket flying over the moon. He’s always telling me he is going to go to outer space!
Of course, we didn’t get to watch all of these movies and Tot kept picking more and more movies to put in piles around the house, but we had a lot of fun. Since we’ve all gotten a little down and out this week, it was nice just slowing down and having a moment.
Of course, if you don’t have any of these movies on hand, Walmart has this $5 Movie bin with a LOT of classics in it! You can pick up your TOMBSTONE® Pizza, don’t forget the EDY’S OUTSHINE Fruit Bars (I recommend Strawberry or Coconut!) and a family movie. Then come back here and leave us a comment!
