As I have mentioned previously, I mainly started cloth diapering to save money, so deciding to use cloth wipes too was a no-brainer for me. I even went ahead and sewed my own 2 ply flannel wipes, which worked fine and obviously saved me tons of money. One thing I have learned about cloth wipes is just like in cloth diapers, you have your basics that will do the job, but then you also have your plush items that make you love using the product. You ladies (and guys?) know what I’m talking about…I know you have rubbed your face on a minky diaper. Well when you are ready to upgrade from your basic cloth wipes to a product you’ll love, you need to check out the Organic Bamboo Velour (OBV) wipes from Two Sweet Potatoes.
Cute. Functional. Organic.
Clothing, accessories and cloth wipes for your most precious little ones. Everything is lovingly handmade and designed with comfort in mind for babies and toddlers.
When I was given the opportunity to review the OBV wipes, I was very excited. The word I kept seeing that described these wipes was luxurious, so all I could think of was the softness of a fluffy white spa robe. When the OBV wipes arrived, I was not disappointed and yes I immediately tested the softness on my face. My immediate impression was why waste these on my little ones bum…I should keep them for myself. Can you imagine having your own special luxurious wipes to clean your face every day? I think this would be an awesome gift with a little makeup bag or skin cleansing system.
Unfortunately, I received these to review, so my blissful dreams of keeping them for myself soon diminished. I also received these in late November with the plan to use them on my new arrival in late December, but I couldn’t wait a whole month and started using them with my oldest right away.
As I mentioned before, these are much softer than any other wipes I have tried. They are also smaller than other wipes, measuring 7 ¼” x 4 ¼”. This makes them the perfect size to fit into wipe warmers and disposable containers without having to fold them. I honestly don’t use a wipe warmer or a disposable container, but it is nice that I don’t have to fold them when putting them in the cupboard where I keep my diapering supplies. I typically keep my wipes dry and just wet them with water when I need too.
Even though the wipes are smaller than I’m used to they were very absorbent. Even with my 20 month old, I only had to use two wipes to clean up big messes. They also worked great as a plush drying wipe. I do still prefer a bigger size for my tot and would love if Nikki would add them to her line!
When my youngest was born in December, we started using them for her instead and I love, love, love these wipes for little ones. The size is absolutely perfect for my almost 3 month old. I also didn’t have any trouble with it smearing newborn poo around like some wipes do. These wipes are a must-have for keeping that delicate baby skin healthy and happy. They are also thin enough to fit in those tiny baby creases where moisture could collect and cause irritation. Another perk is that they are organic and no chemical fray block is used since Nikki hand finishes each one.
The serged edges are sewn very well and after washing these wipes every other day for the last four months, they still look new. You can see that there hasn’t been any fraying or staining. I usually hang this out on the line to dry, but I have put them in the dryer on low several times too.
The last thing I want to highlight is the gorgeous colors. The thread used to serge the edges adds a splash of color around the natural beauty of the organic fibers. You can order your own color combination (I chose turquoise & orchid) from these great colors:
