~I received samples from Watson’s for review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
First of all, I realize it is spring and it’s starting to warm up; so doing a post about thermal layers may seem confusing to some of you. However, those of you that enjoy the cooler activities that spring/summer can bring – like skiing into July, hiking mountains, camping or rock climbing can certainly benefit from the extra layers. Besides, it was snowing in Chicago last week so you never know what is going to happen!
One of my favorite shirts I own is from Watson’s. It’s a Long Sleeve Bamboo Top that I wear underneath all my t-shirts on cooler days. So when I got the chance to review the Waffle and Performance set from Watson’s I was really excited! They’re a company based out of Canada that makes amazingly comfortable high performance thermal layers. They have 4 Collections, each one with their own exceptional qualities; especially for those that love winter sports.
- Waffle: Waffle thermal underwear is comfortable and warm and it will not hinder your movements while you are skiing, snowboarding or just taking a walk in the crisp winter air.
- Performance: Our Performance collection is meant for people who like to move. This collection was designed to wick moisture away from your skin, keeping you warm and dry. Each garment was treated with an antimicrobial treatment that controls the growth of bacteria and ensures that the underwear remains fresh and odor free.
- Bamboo: Bamboo is a naturally hypo-allergenic and moisture wicking fabric, perfect for the fabrication of thermal underwear. Soft and long lasting, garments made from bamboo will retain their form even after they have been washed several times.
- Double Layer: Our Double Layer collection was designed for people who are not afraid of winter. These garments keep you exceptionally warm. As the name of the collection implies, they are created from two layers: a soft inner layer and a durable outer layer. Together, both layers trap air to form a thermal barrier that will keep you warm and dry all winter long.
I also must add that the Waffle thermal layers also make the BEST pajamas on the face of the earth. I’m pretty sure it was not what they were trying to achieve, but I don’t think I could ever live without the Waffle top and long johns. They’re made with 60% Cotton and 40% Polyester and offer a comfortable warmth that is great for chilly spring nights. They also have snug fitting 1×1 rib knit cuffs with reinforced spandex so they stay in place. If I could, I would lay around in them all day long! But they would also make great layers for hiking cold misty morning trails.
The Performance layers are made for people on the move. They’re designed to wick moisture away from the skin allowing it to be dry and warm. Each garment also has been treated with an antimicrobial treatment that controls the bacteria so it remains fresh and clean. Made with 85% Micro Polyester and 15% Spandex, they’re very form fitting and feel like a second skin!
Watson’s also has a children’s line that has all the base layers AND some spring/summer attire! Tot got to try a nice cool black tee. For a child that is always moving, always on the go and loves hiking – it’s perfect. Made with 90% Nylon and 10% Spandex, it stretches for comfort AND wicks away moisture.
He loves his Watson’s T-shirt! I really love the Boys line. They also have shorts, briefs and thermals. It comes in multiple colors, including red, blue, green and multi-colored. I have to say it does make him look awfully handsome!
If you live in a colder climate, are planning on spending nights out camping, hiking or taking a trip up to the late year ski resorts make sure to check out Watson’s line of base layers. They certainly live up to the comfort and performance they promise. You can find more information by visiting their website, “Liking” them on Facebook and/or following @WatsonsBodywear on Twitter.
